On 2nd July 2021 Ben and Rosie Galloway launched Pear Tree House Holiday Cottage.

In June 2024, Ben wrote:

It’ s hard to believe that we’ve been going for very nearly three years now. During that time, we’ve worked hard to improve Pear Tree House for our visitors as we’ve gone along, and we will continue to do so. Rosie and I are very passionate about Pear Tree House. We very much hope that this translates into everything that the house has to offer and is apparent to our guests.

We have met some lovely people over the course of the last three years. We would love to meet you too. We can assure you that a very warm welcome awaits.

About us

Pear Tree House was purchased in 2018 by Richard Galloway. It was inherited by his three sons in 2021 and is managed by one of them, Ben Galloway and his wife, Rosie, (who live in the converted Smithy next door). Ben is the grandson of the portrait painter Vincent Galloway. Some of the artist’s paintings hang in the house and a collection of pencil drawings, made when he was just thirteen years old, hang in the Blue bedroom.

We are delighted to report that after more than two years of closure, the Rose and Crown pub in the village is ‘under offer’.

It is understood that the lease has been taken on by a new tenant who is interested in restoring the building and refurbishing the interior. It is believed that their intention is the continuance of the pub with a view to purchasing the freehold at later date if all goes well. As yet, no further details are known, but further announcements will be posted here in due course once a timeline has been established.

Today Pear Tree House featured in a new article entitled ‘Living the high life: Luxury places to stay in Yorkshire’ published by the holiday experts Sawday’s in their travel blog. It was most gratifying to see that we have been given top billing! You can read the article here: Living the high life:
