On 2nd July 2021 Ben and Rosie Galloway launched Pear Tree House Holiday Cottage. At the time Ben wrote:

Finally, after many weeks of hard work, the house is finished and we are ready to open the doors.

About us

Pear Tree House was purchased in 2018 by Richard Galloway. It was inherited by his three sons in 2021 and is managed by one of them, Ben Galloway and his wife, Rosie, (who live in the converted Smithy next door). Ben is the grandson of the portrait painter Vincent Galloway. Some of the artist’s paintings hang in the house and a collection of pencil drawings, made when he was just thirteen years old, hang in the Blue bedroom.

22.04.24 Ben writes:

Rosie and I would like to share our recent glad tidings. Our daughter Shani Barbara Elizabeth Galloway was born in York Hospital on 10th February 2024 and weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces.

We are obviously absolutely thrilled. Shani is the result of our third and final attempt to have a child via IVF and it has been a long, and at times, a painful journey. But to arrive at this point finally makes it all worthwhile and we feel very blessed.

Many of you who have stayed at Pear Tree House have been aware of our journey and expressed love and support. I promised to let you know the outcome.

One other final piece of news: On 1st April 2024, our ‘Superhost’ and ‘Preferred Owner’ status was renewed with Airbnb and our rating improved from 4.98 to 4.99 out of 5 stars. Many of our customers book with us via Airbnb, but remember that it is still cheaper to book with us direct if you’d like to.
