If you are considering a holiday in rural North Yorkshire, may we invite you to take a holiday at Pear Tree House.

Pear Tree House was originally an eighteenth-century cottage situated in the heart of one of the most beautiful villages in the county, Sutton-on-the-Forest which lies 8 miles north of York.

Pear Tree House and The Annexe are perfect for a week-long holiday, a short break, or even a short let.

Accommodation

Pear Tree House has three bedrooms and can comfortably accommodate up to six guests.

The Annexe can accommodate up to four guests.

When combined, Pear Tree House and The Annexe can accommodate up to ten guests.

The minimum stay is 5 nights. The maximum stay is 28 nights

Here you can check whether the dates you are interested in are available.

Please select the number of people in your party. The cost of your stay will be determined by the number of guests staying.

There is a 3-tier pricing system with prices for 1-4 guests, 5 to 6 guests and 7 to 10 guests.

Up to 6 guests are accommodated in the main house. Larger bookings of more than 6 guests requires The Annexe.

About us

Pear Tree House was purchased in 2018 by Richard Galloway. It was inherited by his three sons in 2021 and is managed by one of them, Ben Galloway and his wife, Rosie, (who live in the converted Smithy next door). Ben is the grandson of the portrait painter Vincent Galloway. Some of the artist’s paintings hang in the house and a collection of pencil drawings, made when he was just thirteen years old, hang in the Blue bedroom. Ben is currently writing a biography about the life and career of his grandfather which he hopes to complete in 2027.

06.10.26 On 1st October 2026 Ben and Rosie completed the refurbishment of the annexe at Pear Tree House.

Ben writes:

I am relieved, and not to say, a little exhausted at having completed the renovation of the small annexe attached to Pear Tree House. Heartfelt thanks to our builder, Matthew Vasey, for making time to help make this possible. The opening of ‘The Annexe’, as it will be known, represents an important step forward for us as we continue to improve and develop what is being offered at Pear Tree House.

Although The Annexe is small and should be thought of as ancillary accommodation to Pear Tree House, it means that larger parties of up to 10 people can be accommodated across both properties. Perfect for stays comprising large families, groups of friends or reunions, it is also ideal for children, teenagers, and anyone with a disability who requires accommodation on the ground floor.
